Believe it or not Public Relations has been with us for over 1000 years. The Greek's first called it sematikos, which in English means semantics. Semantics can be defined as getting people to believe in something or to do something which can be a very broad definition for PR as well. In 50 B.C Julius Caesar wrote the first campaign biography which was called " Caesar's Gallic Wars." Another interesting fact is in 1776 Thomas Paine wrote a pamphlet which convinced soldiers of the Washington Army to stay and fight during a time when, everyone wanted to desert and get away because of the harsh winter climates. These facts stuck out at me in a PDF file I read on the brief history of Public Relations.

I've been learning a substantial amount of information about Blogging during my time spent at FGCU; so Ive decided to piece together my own blog, mainly for my PR studies. Lets see what we can make of this.

TOW (Topic of the Week) -PR PLAN
I am currently attending Florida Gulf Coast University where I am taking one of the many Public Relations classes that will be put before me and I know many people probably feel the same way as I do in thinking that all of the general education classes that are required to get an AA degree, are BORING!!! Now I am getting down to the nitty-gritty, the good stuff, the things I actually care to open my big ears to; PUBLIC RELATIONS. I'm so very enthusiastic about PR that it actually scares me a little. My dream would be to work for a huge PR agency right in the heart of downtown LA. It would be my dream to work with celebrities. I know that if that is ever going to happen I need to get my ass into check and start reaching out in every which way to make sure that my dream comes true. And if you get in my way, prepared to be stomped aside.
